Something That Popped Into My Head

All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts…
William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616), “As You Like It”, Act 2 scene 7

I would like to modify this quote to fit these modern times more appropriately…

All the world’s a stage,
Where most act like nothing is wrong,
Some think the show’s end is fast approaching,
While to others the finale is nowhere in sight…

  1. I’m not sure if anyone really has an eye on the ending; I just think some have a sense of urgency while others have a bloated sense of infallibility.

  2. It was more of a statement about how some people are pessimistic while others are not. This is why I am not usually quoted anywhere except on your blog in haiku format. 🙂

  3. I recall this statement, and it reminds me why I chose Shakespeare as my high school yearbook quote:

To Thine own Self be True!

When you know who you are, then you are better equipped to help enrich other people’s lives. 🙂

  4. Thanks for your very nice comment on my poetry, it is appreciated much, have a great day! And Happy Birthday to Canada!~Silent

  5. Great post Jorge .. yes some people are that way but usually there is a reason for their sadness and pessimistic attitude… It always hits me hard as I have been to and returned from that once very dark place.. it can be a difficult journey..
Have a Great weekend..and a Very Happy Canada Day!
    Hugs

  6. I love that. One more thing to be taped to the bathroom mirror. I’m gonna have to start a scrapbook of the good stuff everyone has.

  7. Thanx for the positive comment on my page concerning my latest date with a girl and not being sure how I rate lol…I lack confidence in the love arena, so it’s tough for me to judge whether things are good or not and reality vice versa.

  8. Great modification. I don’t think it should be a modification so much as an addition, though.

  9. Happy Long Weekend Jorge!!!

I hope you’re enjoying the weather!!

  10. Jorge, I absolutly love that quote! It is in fact on engraved on the fireplace of a lovely castle that I once visited. I remember placing my fingers across it and thinking how wonderful the people who lived here before must have been to have used Shakespeare as a centerpiece.
    Cheers,

  11. Woot woot! I just realized that I had taken the 500th… Well now, should I change my space to the color gold? That’s called working it! And I’m glad to have you as a partner in crime…
    Hugs,
    Drea
