Devyl Blue

The Devyl You Know…

My article about chivalry the other day had me thinking about equality issues this weekend.

I ended up coming across some equality literature written by women (read: womyn*).

Think about this…

A lot of these groups will insist that God is a woman, and yet there is no mention that the devil is anything other than male.

Why is this?

Black and Blue. But Mostly Black.

I spent most of yesterday watching some friends of mine grade for their black belt.

I have to say that I was nothing short of proud and impressed. They all did an excellent job, and I’m looking forward to seeing them get their certificates for the levels they have achieved.

It makes me very proud to train with these people. They are an excellent example of martial artists.

Way to go, guys!

* – I will never ever understand this.

  1. God is sexless. Women are silly beings. one minute they want a man to hold the door open for them, the next they think its demeaning. What are you poor guys to think!…

    Oh well.

    XO’s!

  2. Actually, the devil is sexless. The devil was once and angel and angles are gender neutral . Besides, the argument that G*d is female stems from the way that all traces of the feminine have been wiped out of the Christian (and other religions) imagery of G*d. Rather than find the balance, some people try to go all the way in the other direction — not just womyn are doing this. Besides people are too busy pointing out that the devil is a vegetarian to both arguing about gender.

  3. hi there!

  4. A week from now, when you notice that your readership has dropped off by half and you can’t figure out why, give me a call.

  5. * I will never ever understand it, either, and I AM a woman.

    Apparently I missed the memo.

I don’t understand why it matters what sex God is. (Or if ‘he’ even is a definable sex. What difference does it make? If he’s male, everyone deserves to be treated equally. If she’s female, everyone deserves to be treated equally.

    Right?

Yay for your friends! (I hated martial arts, by the way. I don’t think I’m disciplined enough to be a follower. Of course, it might have helped if my instructor had been hot.)

  6. Religion is how you interpret and what you believe…however…

Ksgrrl is right, Christianity was and still is in some instances disrespectful to women and blames a lot on them.

But then again, I’m an Athiest, what do I know about religion?

  7. Dave.
I take the big risks and post the tongue-in-cheek stuff.
Of course, I have e-clap now.

  8. Hi Jorge,

I had to get into this one too! How can we determine the sex of God if we aren’t able to determine if there really is a God? A God can symbolize a person, a tree, me… It’s more about spirituality than a God.

I like chivalry, I like being feminine, I like using my sexuality to get things, I and embrace the way I act as a woman. I also like being chivalress (God help me on that one!), enjoying my masculine ways (i.e. looking at girls, drinking beer), muting my sexuality, but I still embrace myself.

I am overanalysing this question, but I think it’s silly trying to figure out what we want from the other sex or trying to peg God as a male or female God. Everyone is different and we all have our spiritual side if we choose to acknowledge it. This spiritual side will interpret God how we are taught or learn. I don’t know if there is a God, so as a realist, I can’t say I care if God is male or female. As for the Devil, same! Ultimately, what does it matter anyway? We’re all just little specs on the Earth for the moment. We’ll join the Earth eventually anyway..

Oh the philosopher is trying to emerge! Crazy blog write is stopping!!

    Take care,

    Adrienne
