Starting Perfect Note

Starting the Year Off Right

I recently saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I remember Dave telling me that it was pretty good, so I didn’t think twice about seeing it. All in all it was a good movie. I enjoyed it immensely.

Some of the moments, though, were a little odd.

Observe as Dave and I exchange witty e-mails about one such moment (there may be a spoiler: BE YE WARNED)…

Moaning Myrtle is a perv.

Yeah, and I don’t recall the words “Myrtle reached deftly around Harry’s blocking arms and touched his dick” appearing anywhere in the novel.

Dude…
Did we see the same movie?

Harry Potter and the Gobble-It of Ire?

This was so funny it warranted a phone call. While we were laughing about what Dave typed, I was looking up the actress who played moaning myrtle because she looked familiar…

Jorge: Shirley Henderson is her name. She played Moaning Myrtle.
Dave: She looks familiar.
J: She’s been in Bridget Jones’ Diary and the sequel.
D: Really?
J: Yes. She plays one of Bridget Jones’ friends, I think.
D: Wow. She’s older than she looks.
J: Totally. She was in Trainspotting.
D: What?
J: Yeah. She was Gail.
D: I think I remember her character.
J: Holy crap. You’re right about being older than she looks!
D: How old?
J: Born in 1965.
D: Wow. Oldie.
J: That’s, like, thirty-one years old!
D: Er…
J: Or maybe forty-one years old with math!

You think you know someone…

Picture Perfect

My friend Solaria has started an experiment of sorts. It’s a photography blog. Well, it’s most likely much more than that. She is talented behind the camera and on the keyboard in terms of programming her own blog.
Check it out!

You will agree that she is nothing short of amazing!

On Another Note

Today is a good friend’s birthday. She probably wouldn’t want me to mention her name on here, but she’s a great person. Very caring and sweet.

So if you believe that your positive thoughts can reach her, feel free to leave her a message here!

Cheers, all!

  1. Moaning Myrtle is that old? Strange… Btw.. Thanks Jorge!! I still can’t get over the DHTML style menus over at your photography site.. (looks like DHTML, Smells like JavaScript.. I can’t figure it out..lol…) WordPress is a LOT different than anything I have ever seen, and I am excited to be able to work with it. I keep telling you Jorge.. if I can figure it out… anyone can… I do believe this.. lol.. Geez I can’t even keep up with my car keys.. *s* sol-

  2. Hahaha. Leave it to Dave to have the porn version.

  3. I see my reputation precedes me.

  4. Moaning Myrtyle a “Perv”????? Poppycock!

  5. Well that anonymous post didn’t go too well… Damn URL!

  6. Way to go McGillicuddy. I can always delete it. But it’s much funnier now, so I think it will stay. J

  7. Yes, it was interesting to try to think about how I would explain that scene to my 9 year old daughter… luckily… I’m pretty sure she had drifted off to sleep by that point… heh… just kidding. Actually she never asked me about it, and I am ETERNALLY grateful for that. I’m not ready for that. I think that sort of thing is what MOTHERS are for. I hope. Or that 81 year-old dirty kid in their class who teaches them all the swear words and such… And Happy Birthday to Jorge’s Mystery friend!

  8. Ya, the new Harry Potter movie was totally a perv fest, which I definitely don’t remember the book being. At the part where Cedric looks seductively at Harry and goes, “You know the prefect’s bathroom on the 5th floor? Why don’t you just… take a bath”, a friend who I went to see the movie with just burst out laughing, which made everyone else in our group start laughing! I wonder how the parents in the theatre explained that to their little ones…

  9. Thanks for dropping by Jorge… I must admit I have not been doing the visiting I should be doing. I did however read about your recent visit to Cuba:) I seem to have too little time, however hopefully it will get better soon Wishful thinking is a good thing 🙂 Barb

  10. You and Dave should have online conversatons that I could read about every movie I’m thinking of seeing. Between you, you could cut my movie-mistakes by 99%

  11. Hey! Watch it with that “OLD” business! Some of us born, er…., well around that time, are not at all OLD. LOL. Thanks for dropping in on my site from time to time. I never seem to be able to get to all the blogs I enjoy, like yours of course, but I try. Hopefully, things will settle down pretty soon. Head Game

  12. Oof. I knew there was a good reason to stay away from Harry and the lot.

  13. myrtle really was creepy in the movie, wasn’t she? Dave isn’t up on all the movies, so i had to explain her to him . . . but that really doesn’t explain how creepy she is in that scene. . . anyways, GOF was better than expected, although definitely not the smash hit of the year.

  14. Curses! Math, my archnemesis!
