Wasted Time

Wasted Time

Have you ever been hammered and felt like writing down what you’re thinking for all the world to see?

You know what I’m talking about.

Those deep thoughts that surface only when there is enough alcohol to take advantage of their buoyancy. Profound knowledge, ranking among the thoughts of the ages onhy to be found in the state of inebriation.

I know a number of people who wish that there was somewhere that they could jot down these thoughts, without fear or judgement.

Well, Dave and I have created such a place.

Go see*.

Things That Wait With Baited Passport

Things That Pop Into My Head

Have you ever seen a person who resembles someone you know? I’m sure you have. But how many times do you see a look-alike who is actually from a different ethnic background?

I was on the subway this morning, and I was standing next to a young Indian gentleman who looked like an Indian version of André 3000 from Outkast.

The funny thing was, every time I looked at this guy all I could think of was…

Out-caste

I’m going to hell, aren’t I?

Waiting With Baited Beth

Beth came over the other night to hang out with us. It was great.

I hadn’t seen Beth since Dave’s wedding several years ago.

We went to high school together, and traveled in different circles. I met her through her sister, and always thought she was a great person

We basically chilled on the deck with Beth and our neighbour, eating take-out Indian food* and drinking some fine wines.

You should take a moment to check out her page. She’s a great writer as well as being a fun person to hang out with.

The Beer Passport

I have decided to keep track of all the different beers I have ever tried. This idea was inspired by Reay who gave me eight different beers from around the world for my birthday.

It’s in the side bar, and the top bar under Passports, pluralized due to the fact that I will be putting in a wine list at some point.

Graphical Repz

What Does Your Website Look Like?

I like the fact that most of the people on the internet are smarter than I am. One of those people (my friend Adrian) posted this neat article about a utility to graphically represent one’s website.

You can also go to the author’s website to see how you can make your own graphical representation of a website.

Legend

This is what the colours represent…

blue: for links (the A tag)
red: for tables (TABLE, TR and TD tags)
green: for the DIV tag
violet: for images (the IMG tag)
yellow: for forms (FORM, INPUT, TEXTAREA, SELECT and OPTION tags)
orange: for linebreaks and blockquotes (BR, P, and BLOCKQUOTE tags)
black: the HTML tag, the root node
gray: all other tags

I suspect it is so complicated due to the nature of the templates I am using. Even within that framework, it’s pretty simplistic.

Figtography – The Blog

I set up my photography blog for those who like more detail about the photographs on my photography site (as well as a number that are not displayed there).

The template I used for that is a little different than the one for Barking Space. For the photography blog, each article is essentially structured the same (photo, technical details, description), whereas on Barking Space, the articles vary in structure.

I’m pretty proud of this one.

Unlike the WordPress blogs, I designed this one from scratch. It’s very simple, which was the goal.

Pride, No Prejudice

Why Are We So Proud?

I have a serious question for my fellow Canuckleheads.

I read an article recently that repeats the message that Canadians are essentially proud of not being American.

This really doesn’t cut it. It’s a half-assed idea of patriotism, to say the least.

Ironically, Americans (at least the ones I know) have quite a number of intelligent reasons why they are so patriotic.

So I want you all to tell me one reason each why you are proud of where you live and who you are.

And I don’t want you to say because I am not American because that is not a reason. That is just lame.

As a good friend of mine said…

Everyone should be proud of who they are and where they are from, but not at the detrement of the feelings and beliefs of others.

Cuba Christian Mission

Off to Cuba

So we’re off to Cuba for the week!

It should be nice. We haven’t had a real vacation in a few years.

All of our vacations usually involve carting around canoes and backpacks, cooking in the rain on a campstove, and going to the can in outhouses.

It will be nice to relax. Not sure if I will be visiting blogland, but if not, please enjoy!

Thanks to Christian

Christian, thanks for taking care of things while we are gone. You rock. Don’t forget to catch up on the adventures of our favourite Ronin, Jin and Mugen.

So, Christian is doing his part to support Barking Space. Now, I have an assignment for the rest of you….

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept it

Some friends and I were having a debate. We were trying to figure out which group was cooler: Pirates or Ninjas.

Your assignment is to write me an essay in the comments field stating which group you think is cooler and why.

I figure that if I’m not around to update my blog, everyone else should pick up the slack so people who visit have something to read.

Whatever you write will most likely be better than the tripe that I usually write anyway!

And…

GO!
