AC-DC

Look At the Size of That Shlong!

That's right. I'm in the US of Eh. That is, Washington DC*.

I am stealthily typing on Mama's laptop as she dozes noisily in the living room under the influence of our Canadian Chloroform**.

Mrs. J and I spent most of yesterday checking the sites out on what's known as the National Mall***. We hauled our luggage around for most of the day (which has earned me a week in the doghouse based on how much our dogs were hurting after that hellish walk) before meeting up with Miss Kris at her swingin' pad at night.

Things I Learned About DC

Here is a short list of things that I learned about DC that I have put into list form for easy reading…

  • Tourists are obnoxious no matter what country you are in, although in the USA many of the groups tend to wear matching clothes and congregate like a big West Side Story brouhaha about to commence
  • There are more flags around the base of the Washington Monument than there are in the rest of the world
  • Walking up Capitol Hill must be a lot nicer without hauling your luggage around on your back
  • DC is quite pretty in the springtime
  • Don't go into any building around the Hill for a meal unless you don't mind being cavity searched before entering the food courts
  • Capitol Hill is the safest place on earth because every other person is a police officer

I could go on, but I'll most likley be detained for giving away too many secrets.

"Welcome to My Parlour…"

Miss Kris called me on my cell to let me know that she was home early (which worked out well due to the fact that we were scant blocks away from her place at that exact moment anyway) and so she let us in, looking shnazzy and holding a bowl of dip (which is always a welcome site). I call her Lady Liberty, as she greeted us with a hug and a..

Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free…from your luggage…****

We sat down on her couch with her cats' permission and she proceeded to feed us and be all entertaining-like. It was great.

We felt like we were in our second home.

Later On…

We were introduced to her best friend (who is a lot like her but taller and sassier if you can believe it) and were going to go out for Thai food.

Unfotunately for our plans, the cab company that Kris called was the suck, thus preventing us from going out to where we needed to go.

Fortunately for us, though, the pizza place delivered, and so we got drunk and had ourselves a grand old time.

The End?

I should probably go. The hamster powering this machine I am typing on is starting to get tired, and Miss Kris is beginning to stir.

We're going out from some dins in a while, and then heading to a bar to not drink at all.

Yeah, right.

From behind enemy lines,
Jorge

* – Did you know they have the internet down here? And computers? It's amazing!!!
** – Also known as Canadian Beer.
*** – Which is nothing at all like a mall with stores. Rather, it's a mall with a lot of fanny-packin' tourists.
**** – I made that up.

Mr. Jorge Goes to Washington

The Season for the Reason

Mrs. Jorge and I are heading down to Washington in the morning to visit with our fantabulous friend Kris.

You probably know her, seeing as she's the reigning Queen of the Internet – USA*.

We figured that we would go down in springtime, so that the beautiful cherry blossoms would be a worthy background for our friend's smiling face.

What Are We Going to Do?

Mrs. Jorge and I will get the touristy thing out of the way right at the very beginning. While Miss Kris is toiling at work, we shall take in the sights, both armed with our trusty photographic machines, snapping madly.

Washington, by all accounts from my friend The Haligonian is a wonderful city. And the fact that it's relatively small is a grand thing when it comes to figuring out where to go to find interesting things to look at and do.
When the day is done, though, the festivities begin.

Drinky drinky.

Foody foody.

The works.

Will it Be Entertaining?

What the heck do you think?

Yes, yes and yes.

Please refer to this and this.

I don't think I really have to elaborate how much fun potential there is between the three of us. Mathematics cannot realize such a lofty number.

What's That, You Say? A Surprise?

Indeed. What would a visit be without bringing a gift.

While inexpensive in dollar value, the significance of this gift on a personal level is unfathomable.

Have a Great Weekend!

While we're having a blast in the USA's seat of power, I hope you all stay out of trouble. I mean, I really don't want to have to clean anything up when I get back.

Cheers!
Jorge
Newly Crowned BMIB.

* – Not to be confused with the reigning Queen of the Internet – Canada**
** – Sorry, Dave. It was right there begging me to do it***.
*** – The real reigning Queen of the Internet – Canada is Miss Jay, for those who have stopped laughing.

I finished the website for my show coming up in May.

You can check it out here.

Now all that remains is the actual framing of the photographs.

If anyone is interested in attending, please let me know.

I have to ensure I set aside enough seats for the opening.

April Fool!

Foiled By a Saturday

I thought that I would have many more comments than the few I received regarding my farewell to blogging.

Unfortunately, it being a Saturday – the least likely day for people to be blogging – my joke was foiled.

Rest assured (to whomever may be missing enough sanity to enjoy my blog) that I’m not going anywhere.

It was all in fun.

However, I do appreciate the sentiments that people left. It warms my heart to know that I have made so many new friends on here.

Later on tonight, or tomorrow, I will post the story of one of the best April Fool jokes I ever pulled.

Parting Isn’t Always Sweet

Thank You All

Hey there everyone! This will probably come as a surprise, but due to the fact that I got a new job offer, I will be halting any work I am doing on this space.

There is a certain non-disclosure agreement that I will be signing that forbids me from writing creatively online due to the nature of the work that I will be doing.

It’s an exciting opportunity, and I don’t really want to mess with it, so I’m sure you will all understand.

It’s been a great year and a bit, and I wanted to thank each and every one of you for stopping by and putting your thoughts in the comments sections.

I will miss doing this, but hopefully you will be seeing my work in print and on television soon! I will keep whatever I have posted thusfar on Barking Space for as long as I can. I apologize for any outstanding haiku that have been requested.

You can always e-mail me if you need to get in touch.

A Fond Farewell,

Jorge
