TGIF (How Many Times Have People Used THAT Title?)

Yesterday was a passable day. Actually the work portion was passable. The parts in between and after that were good.

Well, time at work was ok. Things seem to be getting on my nerves lately. Lots of people asking questions while I’m trying to get stuff done. People will be people I suppose. It just ends up making the days longer, and I don’t really feel all that productive. So it’s nice to be able to spend time on breaks or lunch away from it.

I had lunch with Shaun today, which was a lot of fun. I have a lot of weird friends, but they are weird in a good way. We each have overlapping senses of humour so it makes for a refreshing escape from work, whether we are just e-mailing each other haiku poems and limericks, or having lunch together.

Shaun and I laugh a lot when we hang out. I’m not sure if everyone thinks that’s a good thing, because when we laugh it sounds like we’ve just hatched some crazy scheme. We talked about how we used to film movies in high school rather than do a stand-up presentation.

I told him about how Adrian and I used to make movies about Romeo and Juliet that involved Star Wars crossovers complete with crappy special effects and creative camera usage. I’ll have to dig those up sometime, if I still have them.

We talked about different topics, and enjoyed our Cheddar Club toasted subs from Mr. Sub. They are so good. By the time lunch was over my cheeks hurt from laughing so much. We talked about making a ninja movie sometime with a really twisted plot device that we may or may not reveal.

I ended up working a little late because I wanted to get some more done. I didn’t end up really getting as much finished as I wanted, but every little bit helps. It’s nice that the weekend is here. I relaxed with my wife, ate some dinner, and just chilled. A well-deserved break.

I think that being sick, and not sleeping well have affected my ability to keep my mind focused on things lately.

Of course, that doesn’t explain this new obsession with blogging, does it?

The First Order of Business is…

Watch House.

It is the best show on Television.

Really. Do it now.

I don’t know why this show appeals to me so much. The character named Dr. Gregory House would drive me nuts were I a patient or subordinate in that hospital. He’s a mysanthropic, intelligent diagnostician who seems to have the answers to everything. No one likes the fact that he’s right all the time (least of all, the head Doctor at the hospital).

Lots of risks are involved in his experiments. Perhaps I like the fact that House thinks outside the box, and that he never gives up. The big picture always plays out in his mind as he pursues the answers to the most mundane problems. Now you have to watch an episode to see what the hell I am talking about. Go now.

On another note…

A friend and I were talking about his mood today. He mentioned he was grumpy because he’d just come back from the dentist. I told him that he was grumpy because he got the clap from the “bonus plan” that the dentist offered. The brush and tug.

I wonder what famed intellectual shortened “Body Rub Parlour” or “Erotic Massage Boutique” to “Rub and Tug”? It’s a work of genius, and yet, it seems like some kind of breakfast menu item.

“Margie, I’ll have a plate o’ ham n’ eggs, and my buddy Ralph over here’ll get himself a rub ‘n tug with coffee…”

It’s just weird.

The conversation went downhill from there, as we brought the idiotic element of the phrase to the fore by introducing the “Tug and Tug”. You know. Go down to the harbour and take a boat ride and get the finish when you’re done. Think of all the people who would be lining up for that!

Yes.

I am a smart fellow.

A genius in fact…

Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Boredom…

When exactly was it that I received the itch?

The itch, of course is the need to start a blog.

I've always read other people's blogs, and found a lot of them quite interesting. The idea itself is great: Create a public space where you can disseminate information about yourself without reprisal (well, in the case of those blogs without comments fields).

As interesting as it all seemed to be to others to create, I didn't really want to consider creating one for myself, because who wants to listen to me? Really? Also, in which blogging paradise do I create a home? Do I use a public service, or create my own?

My friends Reay and Shaun have their own. My friend Dave has his on a public service. (You can check them out. The worst thing they have is a little bit of profanity but nothing overly graphic.) And so here were several examples of fun blogs.

And I didn't know what to do. So I didn't do anything.

And then my cousin MSG'd me her new blogspace, through MSN Messegner. And I thought that it would be a good medium to use. So here I am. On MSN. Some people are probably shuddering right now, but what can you do?

I'm not sure how frequently I'll update this space, but I'll certainly have fun writing whatever it is that I write in here.

So thanks for checking it out!
