The Storm Has Come and Gone
The tornado that was World Cup 2006 has been and gone, leaving in its wake the crushed hopes of many, along with their flags in the gutter*.
The subway is a lot quieter now, as are the streets at night. Far less honking can be heard.
In this post, I stated my disappointment in hooliganism and bandwagon-jumping.
While I still maintain my belief that these types of events can bring out the worst in some, it undeniably has the effect of bringing people together for good times.
My wish would be for those good times to last longer than a week or two…
A New Me
Well, a new look for the blog, anyway.
Actually, it’s an old look for my other blog which seems to work for this one.
I was getting tired of the RSS feeds not displaying properly, and the crazy font shifts. So this new one is here to stay. You like?

Barking Space 
Yay, love the new format! It´s cleaner, more ellegant, easier to be “perceived” with the tabs above. Kudos for you, J!
I, for one, am glad that the World Cup is over. Another 4 wonderful years before I have to hear North Americans who have never left the continent calling soccer “football”.
And what’s the deal with calling a shoot out “penalties” in soccer? I mean, no one actually got a penalty!

As for the World Cup
It’s only going to get worst, since we are building a soccer stadium here in toronto for our Canadian Soccer Team to qualify for the 2010 World Cup. What flag will everyone be flying then I wonder?
Though I defended the world cup before, I am glad it’s over too. It was really fustrating trying to decide on how you would commute every day to avoid the endless parties for the team that ended up winning that day.
Also I hated the diving, complaining that occured in the field.

P.S. I want to pretend I have an opinion re:soccer…but alas, I do not. I will now go try and form one – will get back to you on that.
Diving in Soccer: Here is the thing I don’t get. If a goal tender leaps through the air to make a save and land on his head, he gets up and continues to play. If any other player gets touched in any physical way it is strecher time. What do they feed the goaltenders?
