Book Review: The Realism Challenge

realism

Sketching has always been a hobby of mine. I find it relaxing and fun, since I don’t take it seriously. Of course, there have always been moments when I wished that I was better – and since I am not fantastic at it and have not had time to practice meaningfully, I let it fall by the wayside more often than I should. Were I to take a course, I would probably gain enough direction to feel motivated – however, again, time and money are always at a premium – and I don’t always have enough of either to spare for a commitment like a drawing class. Enter The Realism Challenge by Mark Crilley.

MM10 – 24 Hour Movie Marathon – 2015

Hey everyone! Welcome to the 10th year of our annual 24-Hour Movie Marathon! The tradition proudly continues as we all converge on Ottawa to partake in this fun “festival” (and probably cause a sure in shares of the company that makes Visene). Like last year, this current lineup is a good one, and we are all very much looking forward to it

MM10

Check out the trailer for this year’s Movie Marathon. Fancy!

Movie Marathon 10

Later this month our annual 24-Hour Movie Marathon will play for the 10th time. Can you believe that we have been doing this for 10 years? If you’re curious, or feeling nostalgic, you can check out both Dave’s and my take on that first Movie Marathon. Movie Marathon 10 will commence at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 28th!

Here is the list of the movies that we shall be viewing:

  1. Jaws
  2. Some Like it Hot
  3. The Raid 2
  4. Out of Sight
  5. Life Itself
  6. Whiplash
  7. Empire Records
  8. Chronicle
  9. The Babadook
  10. The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension
  11. Snowpiercer

The lineup is quite awesome this year. I have seen a few of these – but they are also movies that I am gladly going to watch again. What do you think?

2014 in Review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,100 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 52 trips to carry that many people.

Movember 2014

movember2014-1

Well, folks! It’s November again – and that means time for me to do something that my wife hates: grow a giant honkin’ moustache. This is, of course, for Movember. Movember started out being an initiative to raise awareness for prostate cancer. It also served as a way to raise research money. Well, over the last few years, Movember has evolved to include men’s health in general – especially mental health issues. I can’t think of a more appropriate time to shine a spotlight on that affliction, considering recent events.

So please, if you have any spare coins lying underneath your couch cushions, please donate to me and my team: just click here.
