My Movember 2024 campaign has reached its conclusion. Thanks to everyone’s generosity we have raised $13,901 from 220 donors (at the time of this posting – it’s still not too late! 😉). This means that over the last 16 years you have helped me raise $89,583. That’s absolutely astouning!
The Canadian Chapter of Movember raised $25.4 Million in 2023, and 80.8% of those funds were allocated to men’s health projects. For comparison, globally Movember raised over $122 Million. Check it out.
I very much appreciate everyone reaching into their pockets to donate this year. I really believe that Movember is a great cause and a great organization. They do a wonderful job keeping costs down (cost-to-funds-raised ratio of 21.6%) which results in more dollars going to those that need it! Over the course of the last 18 years, more than 1,250 men’s health projects have been funded (across 23 countries!) – a solid result. You can check out more about that here.
Last year’s foray into daily posts seemed to resonate with a lot of people, so I tried some new things during this year’s campaign. The use of AI to generate questions was interesting and fun – maybe I’ll get people to ask questions next year? All in all, it was a thought-provoking experiment that I enjoyed (and I hope that you did, too!)
The previous year saw me living through unemployment, but in October, my fortunes changed. I now work at a wonderful company with a small -but mighty- crew of supportive people. I opted to double my Move element due to the lack of activity last year (due to a back injury). I went “door-to-door” on top of my normal daily posts in order to spread the word. There was also an anonymous donor that contributed $1,500 to the cause. I don’t know who you are – but thank you so much!
Thanks to everyone who donated – whether to me or to someone else (I love when people apologize for doing this – no worries! It’s all for the greater good!).
Andrew Wilkins, from Movember Canada, has my eternal thanks for being a liaison, cheerleader, and overall amazing person. I appreciate the goodies that I got to give away at this year’s Ar-MO-geddon party!
My family is my rock, and I love and appreciate them very much.
I feel like people will need the positive power that Movember generates in the upcoming year. Remember: I am always here if you want to talk!
